Ps: It's Not Real!
In this day in age, an unphotoshopped image appears to be a rarity. What began as a simple editing program soon evolved into an intricate way to alter images beyond imagination. Nearly every magazine has photoshopped the starring celebrity, creating a perfect person on each page.
Readers are deceived by the flawless execution of the editing as there are no warped edges or distinct differences and are led to believe that celebrities truly look that way. Women are then made to believe the falsehood of photoshopped beauty that grace the advertisements and magazines. When women aspire to look like these fake images, they are setting unachievable goals because even the advertisement models or celebrities do not look like how they are portrayed in the media. In the slideshow above, Photoshop has made George Clooney, an older man, appear years younger than he truly is. Kristen Stewart has been altered from a gaping mouth to a closed mouth. Even the positioning of the face can be altered by Photoshop, not just simple editing techniques such as accentuating the cheekbones or brightening the face. It is frightening to witness the endless possibilities that this editing program has to offer and it is more frightening to know that the readers can be misled the believe that images are printed unaltered.

The gifs below are from a Disney show That's So Raven! season 2: That's So Not Raven. In this episode, Raven tries to be like this size 2 model but soon realizes that beauty is available in all shapes and sizes. Specifically in gif set 4, the model even says she doesn't look like herself on the magazine cover, inferring that editing (such as Photoshop) altered her appearance, even though she was the 'ideal' size.
